The death was confirmed by the Department of Mines and Petroleum this afternoon.

The worker received fatal injuries this morning when a bridge collapsed from the top of a settling tank.

Two Kalgoorlie-based mines safety inspectors were onsite carrying out a scheduled inspection at the time of the incident and another two inspectors from Perth have been mobilised to investigate.

"The department offers its sincere condolences to the worker’s family, friends and co-workers," DMP safety director and state mining engineer Andrew Chaplyn said.

The mine is owned by Norseman Gold, which was delisted from the ASX late last year for not paying its listing fees.
