ASX-listed gold miners were the best performers on an otherwise dour day on the local market with Newcrest Mining jumping $2.99 to $28.89, Lihir Gold closing 18c higher at $3.20, while Sino Gold finished the session 9c higher at $5.58 and AngloGold Ashanti jumped 30c to close at $6.60.
