Shine comes off gold

GOLD’S spot price hit an 11-month low of $US762.8 an ounce today before an afternoon recovery to $774.1/oz, down $2.15, at 4:15pm EST. The bulk of gold plays on the <I>Final Call</I> watchlist finished the session in negative territory with Newcrest Mining shedding $1.18 to $20.02, Lihir Gold down 21c to $1.75, Sino Gold down 23c to $3.30 and Newmont Mining down 32c to $4.55.
