UGL's contracts cover multiple clients in the mining sector, specifically mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and access services for maintenance, shutdowns and sustaining capital projects over the next three years.

They include provision of multi-discipline services for Alcoa across the Wagerup and Pinjarra sites in Western Australia - two of the alumina-focused company's four global refineries.

Pinjarra was commissioned in 1972 and has capacity of 4.2 million tonnes per year. Alcoa regards it as one of the most successful and cost efficient alumina refineries in the world, responsible for around 7% of global production.

Wagerup was commissioned in 1984 with capacity running at 2.6Mtpa. Alcoa claims is it the most environmentally advanced alumina refinery in the world.

In Queensland, UGL has secured maintenance, shutdown and project services across multiple sites and with multiple, undefined clients in the Bowen Basin.

"These contract awards demonstrate UGL's position as a market leader in the Australian mining industry for the delivery of maintenance and mechanical, electrical and instrumentation access services," CIMIC CEO Michael Wright said.

The company has previously worked across projects such as Olive Downs and the Red Mountain Joint Venture.
