Company continues to find more gold after recent resource upgrade

Gateway eyes growth at Gidgee

Fresh from upgrading the Resource at its flagship Gidgee gold project in Western Australia's Goldfields region, Gateway Mining is demonstrating further growth potential.

In mid-December, Gateway reported an 87% increase in the Indicated and Inferred Resource at Gidgee to 449,000 ounces of gold at 1.7 grams per tonne gold, including a high-grade Indicated component of 81,000 ounces at 3.4gpt gold.

The update included a maiden 99,000oz Resource for the Achilles North/Airport oxide deposits and an initial 67,000oz Resource for the Evermore deposit.

The Resource across the four deposits at Gidgee are largely within 100m of surface.

Since the update, Gateway has continued to deliver encouraging results across the underexplored 1000sq.km project.

Just before Christmas, the company reported that reverse circulation drilling had extended Evermore to the northeast with a best hit of 21m at 1.7gpt gold from 132m, including 2m at 9.3gpt.

Step-out drilling to extend the main Evermore structure to the north returned 8m at 1.8gpt gold from 42m.

The holes are outside the Resource envelope.

Gateway said mineralisation appeared to continue around the margin of the Montague granodiorite towards the 120,000oz Whistler deposit.

The company believes this margin of the granodiorite is showing characteristics of a major gold system.

In mid-January, the company intersected significant shallow bedrock gold mineralisation at the Kashmir prospect, which is a plus-2.5km anomaly directly along strike from Horizon Gold's 204,000oz Howards deposit on the eastern margin of the granodiorite.

Results included 15m at 1gpt gold from 15m; 2m at 7.9gpt gold from 3m; and 1m at 8.8gpt gold from 59m.

Gateway said the eastern margin, which is more than 8km long, had been largely ignored by historical exploration, but the first-pass results confirmed its prospectivity.

Further drilling is planned for the current quarter.

Gateway has also identified Julias and Monarch as high-priority targets.

Late January results from Julias confirmed it as an emerging discovery.

Results included 11m at 2.6gpt gold from 24m; 10m at 3gpt gold from 38m; 12m at 2.4gpt from 60m; 9m at 2.5gpt gold from 67m; and 9m at 3.4gpt gold over a 500m strike length.

Monarch will be drilled in the current quarter.

Drilling this year will focus on identifying and testing advanced targets within 5km of the Montague granodiorite.

Work on an upgrade to the Whistler resource is also underway.

Longer term, Gateway has identified at least six additional targets, either from soil anomalies or from historical rotary air blast drilling.

Gateway raised $6 million in November to accelerate exploration at Gidgee.

The placement was supported by major shareholder Kerry Harmanis.

Former Gateway executive chairman and Harmanis' former colleague at Jubilee Mines, Peter Langworthy, remains a major shareholder and acts as a technical consultant to the company.
