Codrus Minerals is kicking off its first US exploration campaign, which will complement its gold exploration activities in Australia.
The company's Bull Run gold project is in Baker County, eastern Oregon, USA, near the border with Idaho.
Codrus recently added 12 additional mineral claims to the project, taking the total to 102 claims, of which the company holds a 100% legal and beneficial interest in 91 claims and is party to the Record Mine Option Agreement covering a further 11 claims.
A new zone of anomalous gold-in-soils, known as Koski, has already been identified in the new claims, with low-level zinc and copper mineralisation also encountered.
Codrus has kicked off the first 3D induced polarisation survey over a 5.75sq.km area to identify chargeability anomalies to a depth of 400m.
The work will assist with drill target definition.
The permitting process for drilling is already underway with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and will continue with a dedicated consultant in-country supporting the company's applications.
The Bull Run project, which sits in the Ironside Mountain Inlier, is prospective for gold and copper and has been mined intermittently since approximately 1929 for narrow high-grade gold at the Record Gold Mine.
Just three drill holes completed in the 1980s by Newmont is the last known modern exploration.
"This is the first significant modern exploration to be undertaken at Bull Run in several decades and is an exciting time for the company," Codrus managing director Shannan Bamforth said.
"We have long regarded Bull Run as a high-potential opportunity for significant gold and copper discoveries and we are really pleased to have teams on the ground actively working to unlock this potential."
Bull Run forms part of Codrus' global exploration portfolio, which also includes three projects in tier one locations in Western Australia.
The company also holds Silver Swan South, which sits along strike from Northern Star Resources' Kanowna Belle gold mine in WA's Goldfield, Red Gate, near Northern Star's Porphyry mine in the Edjudina mining centre, and Middle Creek, which is 10km from Novo Resources' Nullagine mill in the Pilbara.
All are at an early stage and considered underexplored.
Codrus recently completed a phase one, 2500m reverse circulation program at Red Gate to test IP targets and follow up historical intersections.
The company is looking forward to receiving the assay results in the coming weeks.
Codrus listed on the ASX in June 2021 following an A$8 million initial public offering.
It was a spin-out from successful nickel developer Blackstone Minerals, which retains a 46.7% shareholding.
