The "miscellaneous services contract" is for the Robe Valley sustaining project, 140km southwest of Karratha.

The scope of the contract includes the relocation and modifications to existing electrical services; the installation of both overhead and underground 33kV powerlines; the installation of pole and pad mounted transformers; the construction of waste fines pipelines; the realignment of existing raw water services; horizontal directional drilling below live rail lines; the installation of communication infrastructure; and the removal and decommissioning of existing underground services.

The work will take six months to complete and will require a peak workforce of 36.

"It is very pleasing to be awarded this contract which is highly technical and will require significant interface management as we will be working in a live brownfields environment," Cape's new CEO Greg Hutchinson said.

"This contract will draw on Cape's extensive underground services pedigree encompassing power, water and communications infrastructure as well as civil and HDD."

Hutchison was announced as Cape's new CEO yesterday, taking over from co-founder Peter Rowles, who will work on special projects.

Hutchison was formerly the company's chief operations officer.
