The work is part of the Nammuldi mine expansion and involves access road maintenance grading, irrigation pivot clearing and road construction.

KVG completed a contract for Rio in Port Hedland earlier this year, and was awarded a $2.7 million rail contract late last year by Fortescue Metals Group.

The joint venture is 100% indigenous-owned and operated, run by members of the Banyjima and Kariyarra language group of the central Pilbara.

The venture aims to establish a profitable business offering employment opportunities to those in the Banyjima region.

It also aims to lay the foundations for future generations to improve opportunities and services in those communities.

Viento shares were down 3.7% to 26c today.
