While Atlas Copco’s automation solutions are focused mainly on machines using its Rig Control System, RCT will help provide solutions that are a better match for the older generation Atlas Copco products that remain popular workhorses in the industry.
By combining expertise and solutions this way, Atlas Copco and RCT can offer a broad range of remote control and guidance systems for the majority of Atlas Copco’s underground portfolio.
Atlas Copco product line manager Julian Reynolds said the company had chosen to work with RCT because Atlas Copco had some older or newly-acquired machine models that it did not offer a comprehensive range of automation solutions for.
“We must be able to offer these machines with similar automation functionalities that customers can find on our newer generation equipment,” he said.
“Teaming up with RCT gives us the opportunity to do this and we are glad that such a recognised company shares our view on the importance of delivering safe productivity.”
RCT senior business development manager Phil Goode said the intention was that Atlas Copco and RCT would provide a united front to address any safety or productivity issues a company might be experiencing.
“They will have access to the expertise of both organisations to ensure an automation solution can be found that meets their specific needs, no matter what type of Atlas Copco vehicles are in their fleet.
“We have successfully worked with Atlas Copco in the past and it is a great step forward to be able to spread this cooperation further.”
