Grout withstands crucible heat

A UNIQUE range of high-temperature-tolerant grouts became important factors in the rapid rebuilding and return to operation of a lead smelter crucible at Mount Isa in Queensland during preparation for last-year's start-up of MIM Holdings' new George Fisher mine.

The crucible had to be rebuilt and back on-line in a three-week period. Last refurbished 20 years ago, the crucible had to be removed from its existing base to pave way for the new base to be laid....
