AngloGold Ashanti Australia vice president Mike Erickson was named the Women in Resources Champion for his work in driving opportunities for women within the organisation.
He beat out BHP Nickel West asset president Jessica Farrell and newly appointed South32 chief financial officer Sandy Sibenaler, though Sibenaler won the People's Choice Award.
Sibenaler said the award was a great honour.
"I'm proud of the work we've done to foster more inclusive workplace environments but recognise this work must continue," she said.
"For me, bringing the voice of women to the table and playing my part in shifting the dial on gender equity will always be front of mind."
The Outstanding Woman in Resources award went to Chantel Westley from Rio Tinto, while Woodside Energy's Kelsie Clarke won the Outstanding Young Woman in Resources award.
BHP's Samantha Langley won the Technological Innovation Award, while Woodside's Melinda Clarke won the Outstanding Operator/Technician/Trade award.
Rio won the Outstanting Company Initiative for its Building Everyday Respect program.
"WIRA is very much our sector's night of nights and our winners this year are a truly inspirational group," CME CEO Rebecca Tomkinson said.
"Their stories, achievements and leadership qualities show what is possible in WA mining and resources, and also the great benefit that gender diversity brings to our sector."
