The $A2.57 billion Karara iron ore project in the Mid West is seeking skilled tradespeople for fly-in, fly-out roles.
There are currently 1800 workers onsite during the construction phase and the stage one operation will require around 600 permanent employees.
Karara Mining said it could offer prospective employees living in Perth and regional centres Bunbury and Geraldton wishing to pursue a career in the mining industry a unique work-lifestyle choice.
Karara chief executive officer Steve Murdoch said the project had a strong advantage in the current highly competitive WA labour market, mainly due to its size and location.
"Karara is just a short 45 minute flight from Perth, 60 minutes from Bunbury and 30 minutes from Geraldton," he said.
"That's a very appealing option for residents of those areas currently commuting to other regions of Western Australia such as the Pilbara and the Kimberley.
"When it comes to lifestyle, family and social choices, we believe this is a very important selling point and consideration for employees who might consider Karara as an option when pursuing their career in the mining and resource sector.
"In light of the debate that continues to rage about the social impacts of fly-in, fly-out operations, including the effect on families and couples who have to endure lengthy periods of separation while they pursue their careers in the mining industry, Karara offers a significant point of difference when compared to other locations.
Murdoch said the new accommodation villages offered high quality facilities including mobile coverage, internet, swimming pool, mini golf, tennis, cricket, gym and volleyball.
"This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a world-class operation," he said.
Karara is aiming to have the first workers employed by March, with roles required including maintenance electricians, electrical supervisors, mechanical maintenance fitters, process operators, electrical maintenance planners, mechanical maintenance planners, maintenance schedulers (electrical and mechanical) and lab technicians to join its processing department.
