The DMP said it had been advised the man was going to the exploration lease to do work for BGH Mining Resources.

DMP mine safety executive director Simon Ridge told MiningNews.net the man was working in the bush with a companion on Wednesday when he became ill and collapsed.

"The companion attempted to revive his friend but was unable to get him in a fit state to travel back to their vehicle," he said.

"When the companion tried to walk out for help he became disorientated but was rescued by others and airlifted to Paraburdoo and police were notified."

The deceased was found by a search party on Thursday.

It is understood investigations are yet to determine whether the death lies in the jurisdiction of the DMP.

The accident could fall under Work Safe's domain.
