Hegarty gets back to Martabe: reports

The Age and the Australian newspapers today reported that Hegarty, one time Oxiana boss, is set to be appointed the head of a Chinese company that will be managing Martabe for its new owners, China Sci-Tech.

OZ is selling Martabe to China Sci-Tech for $US211 million.

The project was acquired by Oxiana – which merged with zinc miner Zinifex last year to form OZ – in 2007 when the company took over Agincourt Resources.

The project was expected to produce around 200,000 ounces of gold and 2 million ounces of silver per annum over an initial nine-year life.
