Executive Outcomes: Barrick, Chesser, PanAust and more

BARRICK Gold has appointed Ammar Al-Joundi as executive vice president and chief financial officer, poaching him from rival gold miner Agnico-Eagle Mines.

Prior to joining Agnico-Eagle in September 2010, Al-Joundi had spent 11 years at Barrick.

Former Andean Resources executive director Morrice Cordiner has joined the board of Turkey-focused gold hopeful Chesser Resources as an independent non-executive director.

Sydney-based Cordiner is also a founding shareholder and director of new copper producer Discovery Metals.

Former investment banker Annabelle Chaplain has joined the board of PanAust as a non-executive director.

Chaplain is a former director of Coal & Allied and a current director of Downer EDI.

As of today, David Reed is moving from executive to non-executive chairman at Reed Resources to spend more time on other businesses and charity work.

Ian Junk has retired from the board after more than eight years as a director to focus on other executive duties, while founding director Dr Peter Collins will retire at the company’s annual general meeting due to personal and family reasons.

Panoramic Resources has made a number of changes to the board of Magma Metals as it completes its takeover of the junior.

Chairman Max Cozijn, managing director Keith Watkins and directors Terence Burgess, Neil Fearis and David Constable all resigned and were replaced by new chairman John Rowe and directors Christopher Williams and Trevor Eton, with Vera Waldby as joint company secretary.

Meanwhile, Jianrong Xu has been appointed as chairman of TNG after two Chinese companies invested $A13.4 million in the explorer.

Lawyer Peter Wall has joined the Discovery Resources board as non-executive chairman.

Former Intec MD Philip Wood and lawyer John Allen have been appointed as directors of Compass Resources.

Metaliko Resources has completely revamped its board with the appointment of Michael Ruane, Peter Hunt and Bob Griffiths as directors and Bianca Taveira as company secretary.

Michael Michael, Dr James Searle, Geoff Michael and Ian Murray have resigned as directors, while Stephen Hewitt-Dutton has resigned as company secretary.

Dr Julian Stephens has resigned as a director of Globe Metals & Mining.

The company has appointed geologist Fergus Jockel as exploration manager.

Sinclair Knight Merz has appointed civil engineer Richard Hayers as regional manager for Western Australia and Northern Territory.

Marshall Cooper has joined Haranga Resources as a representative of largest shareholder Lippo Group.

Daniel Walsh has resigned from the board of Plymouth Minerals, while Richard Chan has resigned as a director of Hill End Gold.

Wayne Yiu-Wing Wan has replaced Harold Joseph Parker as a director of FairStar Resources.

Finally, Havilah Resources has appointed Jared Murray as mine manager for its Portia gold mine in South Australia.
