Under the agreement between the two companies, all employees at AngloGold's Tropicana and Sunrise Dam mine sites in Western Australia will have the option of taking up FIFO Families memberships.
FIFO Families founder and director Nicole Ashby welcomed AngloGold Ashanti's commitment saying it represented a general shift in attitude in the resources sector.
"More companies are now recognising the direct link between supporting the FIFO worker, their partners and families and the company's bottom line," she said.
"Providing workers and families with the necessary skills and resources to navigate the FIFO lifestyle is paying dividends."
AngloGold Ashanti and FIFO Families started discussions about a potential partnership in September last year.
"We recognise that FIFO work can sometimes present challenges for employees and their partners and families, and wanted to provide our people with the opportunity to take advantage of the unique support network and valuable information that FIFO Families offers," AngloGold senior vice president in Australia Mike Erickson said.
"We see FIFO Families as an excellent complement to our employee assistance program."
AngloGold employs about 400 FIFO workers across the Tropicana and Sunrise Dam operations.
Both mines are in remote locations of the WA goldfields, with Tropicana 330km east-northeast of Kalgoorlie and Sunrise Dam 55km south of Laverton.
The news follows the release of a recent study on FIFO which the Australian Pipeline Industry Association intends to use to form the basis for its new guidelines on FIFO worker health and fatigue.
