AMSA was informed just before noon yesterday of the accident on the Happy Buccaneer, which was docked at the Roy Hill South West Creek wharf.

The authority, jurisdiction and command and control for activities being undertaken at the time of the incident reside with the ship's master.

An AMSA spokesman told MiningNews.net that some cargo that was being moved shifted, resulting in leg injuries to the two workers.

They have been taken to Port Hedland hospital.

Roy Hill Holdings confirmed it received a request for assistance and despatched medical personnel to help.

"Roy Hill is a major operator in Port Hedland and has a highly capable emergency response and medical team based in Port Hedland," a Roy Hill spokesperson said.

"We received a request for assistance and our team immediately responded to the incident, providing medical treatment to the injured people before they were transported to Port Hedland hospital for treatment.

"Our thoughts are with the injured people, their families and work colleagues."

AMSA is sending two inspectors to the site.
