FitzGerald has covered the resources industry for more than 30 years. He started his career as a copy boy at the then Suns News Pictorial and went on to have stints elsewhere, including the Australian Financial Review, The Age and The Australian, where he was resources editor.
The inaugural winner of the Diggers & Dealers Media Award in 2003, he is a committee member of the Melbourne Mining Club, a non-profit organisation formed to foster industry debate.
