Large Calibre result from drilling for gold-copper sample

DRILLING within the Calibre gold-copper deposit in the Paterson Province that’s part of a big joint venture between Rio Tinto and Antipa Minerals has returned hundreds of metres of mineralisation.

The overall 319.8m intercept grading 0.96 grams per tonne gold and 0.05% copper from 95m downhole included 129m at 1.5gpt gold and 0.05% copper.

Antipa said the hole was drilled at a low angle to the strike of the resource so as to collect sample material for metallurgical testwork and that as a result the true width of the mineralisation was estimated to be 25-30% of the stated intercept.

Calibre currently contains an estimated 47.7 million tonnes grading 0.9gpt gold and 0.15% copper.

It's located under 80m of cover, has a strike length of 1.6km and up to 480m thick.

The mineralisation is not closed off and drilling next year is expected to search for more high grade areas.

Calibre is within 50km of Rio's Winu discovery, with Rio funding work on the Calibre ground originally held 100% by Antipa.

Shares in Antipa were up 6.5% to A4.9c in afternoon trade, capitalising the company $121.5 million.
