A 13-hole, 6149m diamond core program has been completed, with Spitfire claiming results indicate "strong potential to expand the existing mineral resource".
Aphrodite has 1.4 million tonnes grading 7.5 grams per tonne for 332,000oz, with an exploration target of 3.9-4.7Mt at 4-6 grams per tonne comprising between 500,000oz and 900,000oz estimated between a vertical depth of 150m and 500m in the Alpha and Phi lodes.
A second diamond drill program is now underway testing the exploration target, with the campaign said to be about 50% complete.
The drilling comes after Spitfire announced last week it planned to merge with fellow gold junior Excelsior Gold.
A detailed feasibility study is flagged to start in the current half.
Shares in Spitfire were off 6% to 8.1c in late trade, capitalising the company at $43 million.
