Assays for the copper and zinc bearing sulphides intersected over a width of 5.6m from 450m down-hole are expected in four weeks.
The previous nearest intersection 115m up-dip returned 10m at 6.6% zinc, 2.7% copper and 58 grams per tonne silver.
Salt Creek is part of the Whim Creek project south west of Port Hedland in Western Australia, and contains 1 million tonnes grading 7% zinc, 2% copper, 2.1% lead and 52gpt silver.
Total Whim Creek resources total 7.2Mt at 2.3% zinc and 1.3% copper.
Venturex’s main focus in recent times has been trying to get the nearby Sulphur Springs base metal project into development, though the company doesn’t rule out Whim Creek usurping its bigger brother.
The company recently raised about $A5 million by issuing new shares at 0.6c each.
Shares in Venturex were unchanged in late morning trade at 0.9c, capitalising the company at $23 million.
