TC Stan was downgraded to a tropical low after crossing the coast at Pardoo, dumping around 57mm of rain on the town.

Port Hedland received only 11mm of rain in the 24 hours to yesterday afternoon. 

At the port, the inner and outer anchorages were opened at 7:42am local time yesterday after closing on Friday, according to the Pilbara Ports Authority.

The inner harbour at Port Hedland was officially opened at midday, a total closure of 48.8 hours.

Dampier port facilities opened at 6am yesterday and anchorages opened at 9am.

BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group, Roy Hill and Atlas Iron are among the companies which ship through Port Hedland, while Rio Tinto exports out of Dampier.

Stan was the first cyclone of this season for iron ore miners.
