SACOME said it would be looking for the Labor Party to honour its pre-election commitments and welcomed a vow to pay more attention to regional SA.
"Our industry is almost solely focused in regional SA, so we are particularly pleased with the premier's announcement that the Labor Party will pay more attention to the regions," SACOME acting CEO Jonathon Forbes said.
Forbes said mining developments through the state had the potential to boost other sectors as well.
"Our key election priorities focused on developing the regional infrastructure that will enable the mining and energy sector to develop and bring jobs and investment to the regions and, wherever possible, benefit the wider community," he said.
"For example, the development of a multi-user Cape-size vessel port in SA's Spencer Gulf would mean that iron ore could be efficiently exported but could also benefit grain growers as they could get their grain out cheaper.
"Our call for the development of a 275-kilovolt line down the Eyre Peninsula provides not only more efficient electricity supply for mining but also benefits the community with more reliable supply and opportunities for a range of industries, which means new investment and jobs for the region."
SACOME said government commitments aimed at accelerating exploration and investment included a new drill core reference library costing $A32.2 million and a further $4 million for the Plan for Accelerating Exploration.
Further pledges involved $4 million for the mining and petroleum centre of excellence, $4 million for an air strip upgrade at Innamincka and sealing of the Strzelecki track.
Other commitments included deferring royalties for unconventional gas and establishing a taskforce aimed at finding a port solution for bulk commodities within three years.
Along with keeping the government accountable, Forbes said SACOME was keen to meet with independent Geoff Brock, who will be the regional development and councils minister.
"We know that Geoff Brock is a tireless advocate for regional SA and we look forward to sitting down with him to hear his ideas and how the mining, oil, and gas sectors can play their part in stimulating the economy and benefiting regional communities," he said.
