Stocks to Watch: September

Following a busy month in August, September is looking just as jam-packed

Stocks to Watch: September

While mine openings have been a bit of a rarity in recent years, there are two this month.

Altura Mining will formally open its Pilgangoora lithium mine on Wednesday (MNN will be there), while New Century Resources will celebrate the restart of the Century zinc mine next Friday.

Also next Friday is the annual WIMWA Summit, a Perth event that is growing every year.

Kicking off the following week is the Australian leg of Benchmark Mineral Intelligence's ‘World Tour', which encompasses one day each in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney featuring battery mineral presentations.

Evolution Mining will hold its strategy day in Sydney tomorrow, mapping out the next three years ahead, followed by a site visit to Cowal on Wednesday (MNN is attending both).

The event comes in the lead-up to a busy period for global gold miners.

The Precious Metals Summit kicks off in Colorado on September 20, with attendance set to rise over 1000 delegates in the event's short history.

The PMS, in Colorado's picturesque Beaver Creek, features over 150 presenting companies from micro-caps right through to the largest company in Kirkland Lake Gold.

A day after PMS wraps up, the Denver Gold Forum kicks off, featuring all of the majors as well as a good assortment of mid-tiers and explorers.

MNN will be in Colorado to extensively cover both events.

There should also be plenty happening on the news front.

Liontown Resources is due to put out a maiden resource tomorrow for its Kathleen Valley lithium project.

Pilbara Minerals should be making its first lithium shipment, as well as a decision to proceed with a stage two expansion.

Orocobre's final investment decision on its stage two Olaroz expansion could also come this month after management indicated last week it was imminent.

Australian Mines is due to release the definitive feasibility study for its Sconi project this month, while Western Areas' DFS for its Odysseus nickel development is also due.

Cardinal Resources is due to release a prefeasibility study for its 7 million ounce Namdini gold project in Ghana, while a PFS for Global Geoscience's Rhyolite Ridge lithium-boron project is also slated to be completed this month.

Sundance Resources has until mid-month to provide the Cameroon government with a viable development plan for the Mbalam-Nabeba iron ore project.

All eyes will be on Eastern Goldfields on Wednesday, as the company is due to come out of suspension with a company-saving capital raising and recapitalisation.

Moho Resources and Montem Resources are targeting September listing dates as the initial public offering pipeline starts to clog up once again.

On the leadership front, Duncan Gibbs will formally replace Ian Murray as managing director of Gold Road Resources, while former Barrick Gold president Kelvin Dushnisky takes over the top job at AngloGold Ashanti today.
