Current director and largest shareholder Tan Sri Abu Sahid Bin Mohamed has been appointed as the new chairman, while former Meridian Minerals MD Jeremy Read has joined the company as MD.

Former MD Andrew Munckton will remain as a director.

Avalon has also appointed PPR founder Paul Niardone, chartered accountant Siew Mun Wai, stockbroker Rohan Edmondson, mining engineer Seng Han Gary Goh and major shareholder Siew Mun Chuang as non-executive directors.

Golden West Resources has promoted director Gary Lyons to the chairman’s position.

Major shareholder Tien Seng Law has been appointed as deputy chairman.

Former OZ Minerals director John Nitschke has replaced Johann Jacobs as chairman of IMX Resources.

London-based mining engineer Jeremy Wrathall has been appointed as chairman of Glory Resources.

Mozambique businessman Malenga Machel has been appointed as non-executive chairman of Kaboko Mining – formerly Uran.

Kate Hobbs has resigned from the board.

Kimberley Rare Earths has completed a board restructure and has appointed former Norton Gold Fields MD Jon Parker as a non-executive director.

Gerry Kaczmarek has stepped down as a director.

Jinchuan Group has changed its nominated director from Sanlin Zhang to Xie Penggen on the board of Metals X.

Meanwhile, former FerrAus MD Mike Amundsen has joined New Age Exploration as a non-executive director.

Former Auvex Resources chief operating officer Ian Huitson has been appointed as a non-executive director of Spitfire Resources.

Founding director Chris Daws has resigned to focus on other business commitments.

Chemical engineer Dick Block has been appointed to the board of Minemakers.

Block was formerly the president of IMC-Agrico Company – the world’s largest manufacturer of phosphate fertiliser products – and will act as a specialist consultant to Minemakers.

MacPhersons Reward has appointed former GBF Mining chief executive and general manager Ron Ellis as operations manager.

Finally, Sumatra Copper & Gold has appointed former Tanami Gold COO Don Harper as mine manager of the Tembang gold-silver project in Indonesia.
