Both had been on the board since before the company listed in Australia in 2008 and are directors of majority shareholder, Canada’s Ivanhoe Mines, as well as fellow Ivanhoe Mines subsidiary South Gobi Resources.

At aluminium giant Alcoa, Audrey Strauss has replaced Kurt Waldo as chief legal officer.

Assistant general counsel for mergers and acquisitions Max Laun has been appointed as vice president and general counsel.

Donna Dabney has retired as corporate secretary, Brenda Hart has been promoted to assistant general counsel and Esra Ozer has been promoted to assistant corporate secretary.

Gunson Resources has paid tribute to its non-executive director Bryan Oliver, who passed away over the Easter weekend.

Oliver had been on the Gunson board for a year and was formerly the managing director of Midwest Corporation and a director of FerrAus.

WPG Resources has promoted its chief operating officer Martin Jacobson to the newly created role of chief executive officer.

Likewise, Rubianna Resources has promoted its general manager Dr Steven Batty to MD and CEO.

Non-executive director Angus Middleton will resign to take up a role as MD of another mining company.

The board of Echo Resources is headed for some changes after director Dr Ernst Kohler requisitioned a general meeting to remove his fellow directors Graham Anderson and Simon Owen.

Kohler, who was terminated as MD earlier this month, said he would resign if the resolutions weren’t passed.

Former Olympic Dam deputy project director David Thomas has been appointed to the board of Thor Mining.

Comet Resources has appointed stockbroker Nathan Featherby as a director.

Gold developer Doray Minerals has appointed Peter Sperring as operations manager for its Andy Well gold project.

Sperring will report to recently appointed operations GM Peter Bamford, who he worked with previously at the Challenger gold mine in South Australia.

Dr Leon Pretorius has resigned as MD of Deep Yellow’ Namibian subsidiary Reptile Uranium to pursue work in Australia.

The company will begin a search for his replacement but Pretorius is in discussions with the company about an ongoing consulting role.

Gunjan Goel has replaced Sanjay Gupta on the board of Citigold Corporation.

Finally, Angelo Francesca has resigned as company secretary of Mindax.
