Mining Briefs: Horseshoe, Gryphon and more

Horseshoe Metals has retrieved a 10% copper hit at its Horseshoe Lights copper-gold project in Western Australia following recent diamond drilling.

The best results recorded were 4.3m grading 2.6% copper including 1m at 10% copper and 0.1 grams per tonne gold and 4.1m grading 1.5% copper including 0.3m at 3.6% copper and 0.2gpt gold.

Horseshoe said the copper mineralisation was consistent with geological modelling and confirmed the potential for further downdip/plunge extensions to the west and south of the existing open pit.

Gryphon Minerals has announced excellent gold recoveries from heap leach testwork at its Banfora project in west Africa.

Recoveries of up to 85% gold were achieved and averaged 78% gold after a short leach time of up to 30 days.

Metals of Africa has signed a binding agreement to acquire a portfolio of 100%-owned exploration assets in Mozambique and Tanzania.

The projects are prospective for base and precious metals, rare earths and graphite.

Metals of Africa said the agreement to acquire Express Resources would provide the company with an unrivalled portfolio of exploration projects in a largely unexplored area.

Phosphate Australia has secured Sydney-based Jimpec Resources as a partner for its Nicholson iron and manganese project in the Northern Territory.

Jimpec paid $A200,000 for an option over 80% of the iron and manganese rights within the project.

It can exercise the option within three years by paying $1.5 million to Phosphate Australia.

Bligh Resources has added to its portfolio after acquiring The Little Wonder tenements in WA’s Mt Margaret goldfields.

The acquisition follows encouraging soil sampling results released by Bligh at the neighbouring Leonora project.

Bligh plans to continue preliminary exploration work.

Mitsubishi Corporation has agreed to provide further financial support to Carbine Tungsten in order to increase production potential at the Mount Carbine project.

The advance of $400,000 is expected to be received in June and will support the ongoing tailings re-treatment production operations.

Krucible Metals has signed a sale and purchase agreement which will enable Daton Group Australia to buy the company’s potentially phosphate-bearing tenements for $12.1 million.

The assets consist of the Korella trial mining lease, six exploration leases and five exploration applications.

Kaboko Mining has started mining operations at Mansa in Zambia following site preparation, blasting and clearing of overburden.

The move is an important step towards an initial trial shipment and commencement of production this quarter.

The Federal Court of Australia has made orders approving the scheme of arrangement for Zeta Resources’ proposal to acquire Kumarina Resources.

Kumarina shares have been suspended from trading.
