Materials low, market flat after RBA rate cut

THE Australian stock market closed flat today despite the Reserve Bank of Australia’s decision to cut interest rates to a record low 2%.

After peaking at 5901.8 points early in the day, the S&P/ASX 200 jumped from 5842.3 points to 5893.3 points following the RBA decision before sliding back to end the day just a point lower at 5826.5 points....
