Gold loses its shine

THE spot gold price closed down US90c at $667.10 per ounce. The yellow metal traded in a narrow range with LME closed for a bank holiday. Only a handful of gold plays on the <I>Final Call</I> watch list made gains while the bulk followed the yellow metal’s downward trajectory with Newcrest slipping 23c to close at $24.61, while Lihir Gold slipped 3c to close at $3.04.
