Gold price rebounds

SPOT price for gold rebounded to be last trading at $US990.9 an ounce after closing down 2% overnight in New York at $980.9/oz. Miners of the precious metal had a lacklustre day on the Australian Securities Exchange with Newcrest Mining slipping $A1.49 to close at $36, Lihir Gold closing 21c lower at $4.04 and Sino Gold shedding 43c to close at $7.75.
