Gold miners takes a dive

COMEX gold dipped by $US20 per ounce at the start of the week and the continual decline has left the shiny metal hovering just above $1700/oz. Overnight on the New York Mercantile Exchange, gold dropped a further $7.80 to $1701.60/oz, weighing heavily on producers. Explorer Gryphon Minerals kept afloat, lifting 4% to 80c after releasing its quarterly report today.
