Placer offers $2 billion for AurionGold

CANADA'S Placer Dome has launched an all-scrip bid for Australia's largest remaining gold producer, AurionGold, in an attempt to create the world's fifth-largest gold miner.

Placer said the offer of 17.5of its shares for every 100 AurionGold shares equated to a cash price of $4.51 a share and a 30% premium to AurionGold's closing price on the Australian Stock Exchange Friday....
